A bit about me...

Originally I trained as a textile designer in the '80s and spent several years working as a knitwear designer in West Yorkshire. By the late '90s the textile industry was in serious decline, so in 1998, I gave up my textile career to spend more time at home with my family.

My passion for drawing and painting began in 2002 when I started attending regular art classes. These classes inspired me to experiment with a variety of media and painting techniques, particularly watercolour. I love the way colours blend with unpredictable effects achieved by watercolour painting, especially with my splatter painting technique!

I am a member of Menston Arts Club and I have been their Exhibition Secretary since 2012. In addition I help with the organisation and running of the Chevin Watercolour Group which was formed in 2018.

A bit about my artwork...

Inspiration

The inspiration for most of my artwork comes from the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and its coastline. Flowers and foliage also provide inspiration along with my doodle designs which often end up being reproduced in my artwork particularly my greeting card designs.

Watercolour

My preferred medium is watercolour. An example is my 'Pink Primula' watercolour design which is available to buy as a greeting card from my Etsy Shop. Watercolour landscapes and other subjects are also available to view on my Artwork page.

Watercolour Splatter

My watercolour splatter paintings are created using a toothbrush and a great deal of paint. This technique is totally unpredictable and produces some unexpected colour combinations. My 'Frosty Morning' is a watercolour splatter greeting card design which can be purchased along with other splatter painting designs from my online Etsy Shop. Alternatively, please visit my splatter paintings link where you can view further artwork.

Brusho

Recently I have been painting and experimenting with Brusho which creates an exciting explosion of colour. An example is my 'Hovey Owls' design which is available to buy as a greeting card from my Etsy Shop along with another example, my 'Blue Brusho Bloom' design.

New artwork is being added all the time so please keep revisiting this website. Details regarding my greeting card designs, art exhibitions and other information are updated on a regular basis.

I am a member of Menston Arts Club which holds an exhibition twice a year in May and November.

Chevin Watercolour Group - Sunflower Mon

This sunflower montage was created by members of the Chevin Watercolour Group.

It was a lockdown project in 2020 which we painted from home via regular Zoom meetings.

We chose to paint sunflowers because they are known for their positivity and association with happiness and optimism.
